Preparing PDIs and Prints for competitions

If you would like to enter any of our PDI (Projected Digital Image) or print competitions, you may need some guidance on how this is best achived. This workshop covers the sizing, naming and uplodaing of PDIs, plus the preparation of digital images ready for printing. The use of both Adobe Lightroom and Photoshop applications will be covered.

Mount cutting and print presentation

Once you have produced your print, you will need to mount it before entering it into any competitions. This workshop will demonstrate the necessary steps to measure, cut and mount your print.

Camera skills

Understanding how to get the correct exposure and producing sharp, in-focus images is key to successful photography. These workshops are designed to clarify all the options and settings of your cameras and lenses, so that you can get the best out of your equipment.

Lightroom

Adobe Lightroom is a very powerful software application. We run a number of workshops, from introductory to advanced, covering the effective use of the Library and Develop mudules, to catalogue, index and process digital images.

Photoshop

Whilst Lightroom is a very powerful tool, there are times when you may need to use Adobe Photoshop to get the effect you require. This workshop covers the the use of Layers - a non-destructive method of image editing.

Using flash outdoors

Using flash as an extra light source outdoors opens up a number of creative possibilities. This workshop is run on Saturday afternoons, and we show you how to use fill-flash and high speed synch effectively. Please note that spaces on these workshops may be limited, and will be allocated on a first-come first-served basis. Bring your camera and a flash gun.

Portrait sessions

For these sessions, we will hire a few models for the evening and set up a small studio. You will have the opportunity to photograph the models in a variety of settings and poses, supported by an expeienced portrait photographer. As with the flash workshops, places may be limited.
