Ashford Photographic Society Inter-Schools' Print Competition
This annual competition is now in its 10th year and is open to all secondary schools in the Ashford and surrounding area, with 6 schools regularly taking part. In 2008, a little over 300 prints were entered which is a fantastic achievement in itself. The intention of the competition is to encourage photography as an art form and to harness the enthusiasm of both the art departments and pupils, so generating a healthy competitive element. The competition format is as follows:
- There are 7 print categories: Pictorial; Landscape; Natural History; Photo Journalism; Artistic Interpretation; Portraiture; Darkroom Black & White
- Two age groups: 11 to 16 yrs and 16 plus
- There is no limit to the number of entries for a pupil or a school
- The winner of each of the fourteen category receives a cup or trophy (donated by Ashford Photographic Society)
- The prize for the winning school is determined by awarding points for the number of 1st 2nd & 3rds scored in each category.
Ashford School were the winners in 2008, and joint winners with Homewood School in 2007. Other participating schools being: Ashford Christ Church; Highworth Grammar School; Norton Knatchbull School; The North School
The North School will be hosting the event in 2009
